Our story
From heartbreak to a new beginning.
I'm Philip Ruston and I own Paw Power Home Dog Boarding. I also work in design and I.T. I live with my wife, Frances, who previously ran Paw Power Dog Walking in and around Barugh Green for quite a few years; she now works as a customer advisor for public transport.
I was born in Barnsley and raised in Mapplewell. I lived in Durham for ten years before moving back to Barnsley in 2015. As you'd expect, both Frances and I love dogs.
A couple of months before writing this, our best friend and the third member of our family — Charlotte, our Staffie-Boxer — passed away. Charlotte had been our hero for eleven years and, as you can imagine, it left us heartbroken.
Following Charlotte's passing, a neighbour and friend asked if I'd look after their dog while they went away. I didn't really think about it and just said "yes." That was the little acorn that became the rebirth of Paw Power.
